Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji , sensing the hardship of the Brahmin students, pursuing their studies in various disciplines decided to set up Vidyarthi Nilayas at important towns in Karnataka with affordable accommodation and food. The First Vidyarthi Nilaya started at Dharwad during 1956 and next at Mysore (ABMM  Madhwa Brahmin Hostel).  Thereafter Vidyarthi Nilayas were established at Davanagere, Hubli, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bijapur and Bagalkote.

Dr.H.C.Subbarao, a renowned doctor at mysuru was instrumental in starting the madhwa hostel at mysuru, after consultation with the swamiji after the paryaya for which the swamiji readily agreed. Accordingly, in the presence of Shri Vishwesha theertha Swamiji on 11th december, 1956 ABMM's 'Madhwa Hostel' was started. Shri K. Vittalopadhya served as the hostel warden.

                                             
In the earlier phase at Madhwa hostel accommodated roughly about 20 students, but as the time passed by , the number of students increased and so did the need of residing place. Accordingly on 11th september,1965 a new block known as the 'Praasada Praveshotsava' was inaugurated. Today we are proud to say that the hostel has an accommodation for more than 120 students!. In order to develop a sense of cultural unity among the students, a student group organization 'Mitravrinda' came to light in the year 1965 and have been undertaking an amazing progress till date. Currently, Shri Padmanabha Varkhedi is serving as the Hostel Warden.

We are also pleased to announce that Lakshmibhai H.C.Subbarao Education Trust have been funding a certain amount from all these years to poor and intelligent students who have opted sanskrit as their main stream.
